The main transylvanian festivals together with the economic sector and public institutions have created a joint endeavour, to access funding, logistic expertise, production, local and international connections to cover the needs for equipment, hygiene, social support and information of the hospitals and social carers.

Un Singur Cluj (One Cluj) is a platform that unites more than 100 entities that have been working together since late march 2020. Via crowdfunding and sponsorship One Cluj has collected over EUR 191.538. To cover the hospitals needs - medical protection equipment, ventilators, patients triage facilities and so on, SMEs of the region have made donations of around EUR 145.000 (mostly money and some in kind, like hot meals for medical staff). The list of donations is growing each day.

Around EUR 46.500 camed from the „Solidarity Tickets”, that can be bought by the festival crowds, that can't participate this year to their favorite events due to the social distancing measures. So, instead of the tickets to cultural events, the organizers have been asking their public to buy these tickets that work as donations for the health care system.

1.388.300 pieces of medical equipment have been purchased from Shanghai, using the logistics expertise of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Transylvania. The shipment was deliverd via air, to Cluj-Napoca airport, in a special flight organized with the romanian state flight company.

Hospitals in Cluj-Napoca are recieving patients from the entire Transylvanian region, so their role in the fight with COVID-19 has a national impact. The team of One Cluj works closely with all the hospitals from the region to monitor each week the needs of medical supplies. Apart from the hospitals, hygiene products and protective equipments have been delivered to the family doctors of the region, because they are the first in line as health care providers for the population. Also, there are strong connections with the civic support groups that have been active in the region since the pandemic started.

As promoters of sectorial and trans-sectorial collaboration for many years, the transylvanian clusters are proud to witness the succes of Un Singur Cluj and to be part of it, since many of the entities joined in Un Singur Cluj are members of transylvanian clusters and some of the clusters themselves are part of this platform.

A quite similar initiative takes place in Torino, Italy, should you be interested in finding more about it, please check https://www.clustercollaboration.eu/forum/best-practices-sharing/torino-social-impact-collaboration-between-profit and contact them directly on the Forum, thank you!
