• It outsources heat production to a nearby 'entrepreneur'

The Nordic countries have been breeding cattle for specific health traits since the 1980s, longer than anybody else in the world. VikingGenetics Finland Oy, based in Hollola, wanted to focus on its core competence in the modern dairy industry and not have to worry about heat production.

At the end of 2016, the company made the transition from oil to biofuel heating based on wood chips and a decision was made to procure the heat as a service from a local specialist.

The 'heat entrepreneur', Hollolan Biolämpö Oy, takes care of the the whole operation through its bioheat plant nearby, leaving Viking to concentrate on what it does best.
