In face of the current COVID-19 crisis, the additive manufacturing sector has the potential to provide immediate solutions for hospitals currently experiencing shortages of essential medical equipment. However, the sector is facing several regulatory requirements that are becoming bottlenecks for valuable contributions.

In order to ensure that regulatory requirements do not block Additive Manufacturing's role in providing quick and efficient solutions to hospitals in need, the European Association of Machine Tool Industry and Related Manufacturing Technologies (CECIMO) has developed a list of “Recommendations to policymakers”.
